From Press and Journal reader who works for a Tulloch company so is Anon.
I see that by making a donation, David Sutherland has got his name on the Emigrants statue at Helmsdale and one wonders if he hopes to go down in history as a great befifactor like his namesake the Duke of Sutherland. The Duke cleared the people off the land but now David is clearing the farms away. At the last count he has cleared eight farms away from the city of Inverness hinterland. Far from building a farmhouse with stable and pretentious gate lodge at Bogbain of Inshes, as some sort of monument to his success as a property developer, David Sutherland.s proposed development appears to me to represent the start of a monumental PR blunder. The complete absence of any respect for the heritage of the Bogbain landscape is bound to tarnish his image and it was interesting to note in the newspapers how Tulloch , The Inverness Civic Trust and Westhill Community Council have all been quick to distance themselves from David's scheme.
From man in shop at Cradlehall on Friday morning "How come the Courier could not track David Sutherland down for his comments on this row at Bogbain?. "They seem to be able to get him to comment on everything else that happens around here". Another customer with Westhill wit then suggested. "Maybe he's gan hameward- tae think again".
Letter published in Inverness Courier 18-10-05 and repeated to more or less the same extent in Highland News and The Press and Journal around the same time. This letter along with petition material is going out to all Community Council Secretaries this week end along with reasons suggesting the lack of merit or public benefit in this controversial planning application
